Denice & Greg
Dear Expectant Parent(s)–
Hi! We are Greg and Denice and we feel so incredibly honored that you are learning a little about us. We know this is probably a stressful time for you and our prayer is that you would feel supported, loved and validated as you are faced with these difficult choices.
About Us-
We live in the beautiful city of Boise, Idaho. We met while working at the Boys and Girls Club in 2006 and were married in 2008. Greg has worked as an Escrow Officer for a local title company since 2006 and Denice works part time (flexible hours) at a veterinary hospital.
We have 2 children, both boys. Our oldest, Declan is 8. He is funny, creative and smart and is really looking forward to teaching a new addition math😊. Our youngest, Micah, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2017 and after a short, intense battle we lost him in March of 2018 at the age of 3. He was silly, stubborn, fearless and loved to dance.
Throughout our heartbreak we have leaned into God, our family, and our wonderful supportive friends, that we call our “Framily”. Some of our framily are adoptees themselves, and we have some who have fostered, and some who have adopted. Our situation has given us empathy beyond compare and the ability to be so much more compassionate. It is important for us to say that our wanting to adopt is not a result from our loss, it has always been something we thought about. Even before we had our children. We feel we have so much love to offer.
As a family, we value having experiences. To travel. To be outside. To spend quality time with the people we love and doing the things we love. On a typical weekend you’ll find us enjoying different things Boise has to offer, or spending time with our framily. We like to be outdoors, riding our bikes or scooter, playing yard games, camping….
We both are close with our extended families although they are very different. Denice comes from a large Hispanic family on her father’s side and a European heritage on her mother’s. She takes a lot of pride in being bi-racial. Greg’s family is smaller but still close. Greg’s family lives in different cities in the West but we try to get together as frequently as possible.
About Greg (in Denice’s words)-
Greg is one of the most selfless people I’ve known. I adore and strive to be more like that every day. He is the 1st one to jump and offer help if someone needs it, never asking for anything in return. He is kind, silly and enjoys being active. His go to sport is soccer, but really, is up for anything. He is a wonderful father, who can be easily talked into building forts, having pretend Pokémon battles, or dressing up in silly costumes.
He may be one of the most easy going guys you may meet. He is thoughtful and inclusive (the more the merrier is definitely something he believes in). And I love that he is the kind of person who can strike up a conversation with anyone. He is so smart and is always making our family strive for open honest communication.
About Denice (in Greg’s words)-
Denice is a beautiful woman inside and out. She is caring, loving, funny, silly, a fantastic mother…and my best friend. Her ability to keep our family organized and on track is truly the glue that holds us together. Denice is fiercely loyal to her friends and family. If she has your back you know that you can count on her to be there for you through thick and thin. Watching her support others going through difficult times or health issues inspires me to be a better person.
Denice is definitely a hands on parent. She takes an interest in the things that interest our kids and finds creative ways to keep them busy and engaged. I’m always amazed with the things she comes up with to keep things fun and exciting during school or summer breaks.
Thank you for taking a minute to learn about us. Although we have never met, we are thinking about and praying for you.
